Are there extra-curricular activities and clubs at BTEC?

There are SO MANY options! DECA, SkillsUSA, FFA, HOSA, and ESports give students the opportunity to learn and have fun outside of class. Leadership opportunities are everywhere at BTEC if students want to grow as leaders.

Is it possible to earn industry certifications at BTEC?

YES! BTEC classes prepare students for life after high school with a variety of Industry Credentials that may be earned, such as ASE Certification for Auto Tech, OSHA training for building trades, and ACT WorkKeys. Check with Ms. Gochenour or the course instructor for more information.

Does BTEC offer internships or on-the-job education?

BTEC works with local industry for internships and externships- students can learn on the job for credit and experience. Ask Ms. Gochenour or Mr. Moore for more information.

Credit Questions

How do BTEC class grades affect my GPA?

Grades from BTEC are applied the same way toward your GPA as classes at the high school.

It is possible to earn additional high school credits through BTEC programs?

Yes! The agriculture education program now offers pathways that include a fine arts credit (Floriculture) and personal finance (Agriculture Economics) credit. Check with your counselor for more information.

Do BTEC classes have prerequisites?

Many program areas at BTEC have introductory-level classes that must be taken before others. You can consult the class guide or ask a counselor for help in planning your schedule.

If I don't attend Boonville schools, how will l get to my BTEC classes?

Transportation arrangements to and from BTEC are made in cooperation with your home high school.

How do I sign up for classes?

Your high school counselor will be able to guide you and enroll you in your BTEC classes. Ms. Gochenour at BTEC is also always available to help students with enrollment or guidance.
