Teachers - When you sign up, make sure you choose your school. You will be given Premium Access automatically when you do.

Actively Learn - Tips for Increasing Engagement:


Engagement: Adding images and videos clips to the directions or Qs and margin notes; adding a poll question as a pre-reading question or during the reading; adding an inline discussion question in the margin to give Ss a way to discuss the topic.


Collaboration: Make sure that students can see their classmate's notes, responses, and engage in on-line discussion. Using the research feature and small groups are other ways for students to collaborate.


Support - Make sure to model all of the reading supports - define, translate, text-to-speech, and text settings. Remind students in the directions what they should do. Examples might be - define the following words.... Take a note and highlight the claim and then 3-4 notes with supporting evidence...Read the author's argument and then agree or disagree in the in-line discussion in paragraph 6.


Feedback - Give students regular feedback to affirm their ideas and hard work and to push them to go back into the text and add more textual details
