Welcome to Mr. Montgomery's Social Studies 

Social Studies Year 

This year we will be learning about Ancient Civilizations such as Egypt, China, Greece and Rome!  First we will begin with understanding the different Social Scientist that record, document and try to understand the past.  We will use specifics skills throughout the year that Social Scientist use!  We will make observations of ancient artifacts and images to help tell the story of the past civilizations.  These civilizations play a very important role in shaping our present day lives and world we live in.  Next we will spend some time looking at the development of civilations, using Mesopotamia we will look at how the first settlements in the region began to grow into City-States. Finally throughout the year, deep investigations into Ancient Egypt, China, Greece and Rome will take place.  While investigating we will look specifically for charateristics of civilization that Social Scientist use to detemine how a civilization functioned.  

Characteristics of Civilization

Goverment, Stable Food Supply, Religion, Arts, Writing, Technology, and Social Structure.  

Google Classroom

All lessons, materials and other resources will be posted on Google Classroom.  Each period will have a specific classroom.  Also, a calendar for daily assignments will be posted there to keep everyone informed regarding work and upcoming activities.
