1. The student-athlete will act as a professional role model at all times and in compliance with the Rotolo Middle School Athletic Code and IESA code of conduct. They will be expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner in class, on school grounds, and in the community. The student- athlete demonstrates the personal, intellectual, and motivational qualifications. The student-athlete must deal with others (peers, faculty, staff, and their families) in an honest, respectful, sensitive and nonjudgmental manner that communicates respect for individual differences. Inappropriate facial expressions, gestures, body language, and foul language are inexcusable. These are considered severe offenses.
2. Specific incidents of behavior or academic issues not covered in the school activities and athletic code are subject to review and disciplinary action. Any disciplinary action would be investigated and communicated with students and parents by building administration.
3. Cell phones are not to be present during practice and before/during games and competitions. Ringers must be off at all times.
4. The student-athlete should carefully consider information they communicate or post electronically to include text, and all forms of social media. Inappropriate language, comments, posts, or pictures will not be tolerated.
5. During the game, athletes should stand at attention hands on hips and be fully participating in the game. Athletes should be in their designated spot with 2 minutes left on the play clock and be ready for instructions. Failure to be ready and fully participating as expected will result in loss of cheering time.
6. Student-athletes not conducting themselves appropriately or abiding by rules within this handbook will be benched for a duration at the discretion of the coaches. Flagrant and repeated violations will result in suspension or expulsion.
Being a Rotolo Middle School Cheerleader is a major personal commitment. The time, effort, and dedication rivals all other sports due to the season length. Team members are expected to honor this commitment from the beginning of the season to the end of the season. Practice days and times may vary based on games and availability of the facilities. Additional practices may be added to prepare for competition or special events. All practices, games, and events, including events taking place over breaks, are mandatory. Student-Athletes are encouraged to be involved in extracurricular activities and expected to manage their time to give 100% to all activities.
The coach DOES NOT expect a team member to cheer when they are ill or injured. Team members should report any of the following to their coach immediately. The coach and/or athletic trainer will evaluate all injuries.
All blows to the head which have potential for a concussion
Any injury which causes any discomfort beyond minor momentary pain or pressure
Any illness which develops during a practice or game
All allergies or conditions, such as asthma, which may interfere with proper respiratory function.
During hot weather workouts, any chilling, dizziness, or failure to perspire during the activity.
Any other situation that the team member feels may need further medical assistance.
Some additional expenses may be incurred throughout the year for uniform purchase or competition fees. Athletes will be responsible for payment for any materials displaying their name or any materials that are not turned in at the end of the season. Dues will be established by the head coach and communicated to the team and parents. All payments must be received prior to receiving merchandise. Fundraising opportunities will be available to help offset cost, expected by the district’s policy.

Team Bag
Fee for routine choreography
Team bows
Misc. competition fees (Music, registration fees, etc.)
Total Due Fee: $250 to be paid to myschoolbucks
