About me
I have taught mathematics at Groves since January 2006. In addition to teaching at Groves, I am also an adjunct professor at Lawrence Technological University, where I teach our in-house dual-enrollment calc 3 course in addition to an on-campus section in the evenings at LTU. I am also a part-time adjunct instructor at MIAT where I teach an online technical mathematics course for aviation technicians and college intermediate algebra.
I attended the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, originally studying electrical engineering, but ultimately completing a BS in Pure Mathematics in 2003. I then went on to Madonna University where I completed my teaching certification in secondary mathematics with a minor in Political Science. I have three master's degrees: an MA in Athletic Administration from Concordia University (2012), an MS in Pure Mathematics from Emporia State University (2019), and an MS in Exercise Science from Concordia University (2022).
I am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through NSCA. I currently provide strength and conditioning programming for football, powerlifting, track and field, and boys' basketball at Groves.
I currently coach varsity football at Groves (Defensive Coordinator, D-Line), and in 2017 I was recognized by the MHSFCA as one of ten assistant coaches of the year in the state of Michigan (quite an honor!). I am also the head coach of the powerlifting team and mens/womens track and field teams at Groves.
My wife, Shannon, is a Human Resources business partner and our daughter, Payton, is a black belt in karate and avid soccer and basketball athlete. We live in Canton with two golden doodles. Here's an article about how I proposed.
I love the beach, weightlifting, chess, and reading for pleasure. I am originally from Port Huron (Northern HS, class of '98, football #68), the easternmost point in the state of Michigan! Fun fact: the site of my pre-school is now a footing of the second Blue Water Bridge span.
