OPPORTUNITIES FOR CHOIR STUDENTS

District Honor Choir (7th-12th Grades)
Students may audition for the Northeast Choral Directors Association District Honor Choir. An audition fee and music packet will be paid by the student. It will be the responsibility of the student to prepare for this audition, but instruction will be given by the directors at school. If chosen for the chorus, students will attend a clinic concluding with a concert open to the public.
All-State OkCDA Junior High Honor Choir (7th-9th Grades)
Students may audition for the Oklahoma Choral Directors Association Junior High All-State Honor Chorus. An audition fee and music packet will be paid by the student. It will be the responsibility of the student to prepare for this audition, but instruction will be given by the directors at school. If chosen for the chorus, students will stay 2 nights in Oklahoma City and attend a clinic concluding with a concert open to the public.
All-State OkCDA Jazz Honor Choir (10th-12th Grades)
Students may audition for the Oklahoma Choral Directors Association Jazz High School All-State Honor Chorus. An audition fee and music packet will be paid by the student. It will be the responsibility of the student to prepare for this audition, but instruction will be given by the directors at school. If chosen for the chorus, students will stay 2 nights in Oklahoma City and attend a clinic concluding with a concert open to the public.
All-State OkMEA High School Honor Choir (10th-12th Grades)
Students may audition for the Oklahoma Music Educators Association High School All-State Honor Chorus. An audition fee and music packet will be paid by the student. It is the student’s responsibility to prepare for this audition, but instruction will be given by the directors at school. If chosen for the chorus, students will stay 3 nights in Tulsa and attend a clinic concluding with a concert open to the public.
Solo Festival (7th-12th Grades)
Students will prepare and perform a solo for a judge at this festival. A $10 entry fee is paid by the student. The school will provide all music necessary. Students will be given instruction on how to rehearse on their own. Solos earning a Superior rating will receive a medal.
BHS Musical (9th-12th Grades)
Students may audition for the BHS musical that is typically held in the spring semester. Auditions are announced in class. Students will prepare an audition devised by the director. The musical rehearsals are held after school, and students will receive a schedule. Students are responsible for attending rehearsals and performances.
Travel (9th-12th)
Students in the competitive vocal music classes will be provided an opportunity for travel as enrichment each year. Every four years, we travel to an international destination! Below is the current BHS Choir travel plan. Students may earn money for travel through fundraisers sponsored by the BHS Choir Booster Club.

2026-2027- Big Trip
2027-2028- NO TRIP (prepare for International)
2028-2029- International
