Students should be able to locate and identify the seven continents and five oceans on a world map. They do NOT need to know how to spelling them. A word bank will be provided.
This year, we will be learning all about communities around the world. We will focus on the following BIG IDEAS:
People Build Communities
Communities Have History
Communities At Work
Communities Have Government
Many Cultures, One Country
Students will also learn about the basic geography of the world (continents and oceans), as well as various map and geography skills, including using globes, using maps, cardinal directions, different kinds of maps
Additionally, the students will stay up to date with current events and learn more about the world around them by reading Scholastic News Magazine.
Scholastic News builds ELA skills and content area knowledge with current nonfiction and online features such as videos, games, and other digital content.
