Boxcopy | AIRspace at Metro Arts

As the first Artist-Run in Residence to enter Metro Arts' studios in 2009, Boxcopy is pleased to be involved in AIRspace.

This project marks a subtle shift in Boxcopy's organisational motives. It asks whether there are new (or old) ways for supporting artistic practice outside of conventional and institutional models. Does the ARI need to be a microcosm of institutional practice, reinforcing it, or should it offer modes for imagining practice, exhibition, professionalisation and power differently? Is providing exhibition space the best way for an ARI to assist the development of emerging artistic practice? Or does more benefit lie with supporting immaterial labour and post-Fordist production?

In this non-transactional project, artists can sign on to receive a portion of the $500 artist fee provided by Metro Arts to Boxcopy for this exhibition. The amount will be divided equally among those who register. International participants can email Boxcopy their PayPal details to info@boxcopy.org with the subject 'Metro Arts AIRspace'.

From 1/2/2020 – 10/2/2020, this site will be live. A list of all recipients will be made available from 12/2/2020. This list of participating artists will appear as wall text in Studio 3.7, Metro Arts and will be published online.
