BISD Assessment

The ACT is an entrance exam used by most colleges and universities to make admissions decisions. It is a multiple-choice test, administered either on-line or via pencil-and-paper by ACT, Inc.

The ASVAB is a timed, multi-aptitude test, which is given at more than 14,000 schools and Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS) nationwide and is developed and maintained by the Defense Department (DoD).

The SAT is an entrance exam used by most colleges and universities to make admissions decisions. The SAT is a multiple-choice, pencil-and-paper test created and administered by the College Board. The PSAT can be taken by students as early as 8th grade to determine a students progress towards college readiness.

The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) program includes annual assessments for

reading and mathematics, grades 3–8
science at grades 5 and 8
social studies at grade 8
end-of-course (EOC) assessments for English I, English II, Algebra I, biology and U.S history.

TEA designed the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) and TELPAS Alternate to assess the progress that limited English proficient (LEP) students, also referred to as English learners (ELs), make in learning the English language.

The Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2) is a series of placement tests for students enrolling in public colleges and universities in Texas. The tests help Texas schools determine whether you’re ready for college-level courses in the areas of reading, writing, and math.
