The subject of English, also known as Language Arts, is a critically important subject within students' and individuals' lives and education that helps develop English comprehension, proficiency, and understanding of the world and literature around us. English studies relate to the study, analysis, and exploration of various grammatical, comprehensive, and literary components. First established roughly in 18th-century Europe, the initial English Studies curriculum set the stage for the structure of ELA studies. Through English, people can advance their grammar, writing, and dialect proficiency and learn to critically examine literary text. Language art, also known as ELA, predominantly taught from grades kinder through twelfth grade, focuses on early student development and learning of reading, writing, and spelling communication. This initially sets up students' understanding of literary and writing elements as they continue to take English courses. As students advance by grade, their development and comprehension in English studies improves as they begin to learn the general language, structure, evolution, and function of English studies from high school to thereafter, while also advancing their literary interpretation and analysis.
Through literature analysis and reading, students advance their understanding of historical events and diverse narratives and begin to progress their knowledge of cultural awareness through the reading and writing involved in their English courses. Through English studies, people begin to learn more about different cultures, stories, and historical happenings that scope beyond a single subject narrative.
The more we read and explore literacy and English components, the more we grow in unity. It is through English studies that people begin to appreciate other narratives and cultures, and we begin to explore multicultural learning through literature. Given that English is one of the dominant world languages, It is important that students learn these important literary and English skills to be effective communicators and begin to develop equitable mindsets through the diverse literature and readings many teachers promote to students.
