About Us

Miss Elkins is a graduate of Bourbon County High School1 where she was a member of the BCHS Dance Team2.  She graduated from Transylvania University with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and a minor in Secondary Mathematics Education3.  Miss Elkins went to EKU4  to get her Master's Degree in Library and Information Science and her School Media Certification5.  Later she attended the University of Kentucky6 and earned her Rank I and PhD7 in Library and Information Science8.  During her UK years, she interned with the Library of Congress as a cataloger9.

Dr. Elkins has worked at Bourbon County Schools for over 50 years10.  She has traveled to several countries vacationing with her children11.  During those travels, she has tap danced on the Great Wall of China12, snorkeled in the Great Barrier Reef13, and walked across the top of the Sydney Harbor Bridge14.  She has a 3 year old pet ferret named Dewey15 and loves snakes16.  In her current job at B.C.H.S., she reads a lot17 and as a result has read every book in the Graphic Novel collection18.

In her free time, she owns a lawn care business19 that serves Bourbon, Clark and Fayette counties and is currently learning to speak French20.  She spends part of each summer counseling 4-H camps for various counties21, and is currently exploring the idea of running for Governor of Kentucky22.
