Botmasterz 9255 High School

We are the all girls combined Grosse Pointe High School team - We code, build robots, compete, and work to impact our community! As the only all girls team in Michigan that does not come from an all-girls school, we proudly have 13 dedicated members from both Grosse Pointe High Schools. We have the thrill of sports and the excitement of STEAM, and we can't wait to share our passion with the world!

Competition-

Our season consists of two district competitions, where we compete in 12 out of 80 matches. At each competition, there are around 40 teams from across the state of Michigan. If we do well enough at each competition and receive enough ranking points, we can reach the state level! At the state competition, 160 teams attend and compete to qualify for the world championship. Held in Huston, Texas, the world championship hosts 600 teams from across the world to compete. Close to 80 teams from Michigan qualify for the world level, and we are proud to have attended states 3 times out of our four seasons!

Impact-

Botmasterz works tirelessly to leave a lasting impact on our community and every person we reach. While our mission focuses on women in STEM, we also include all kids of any gender in our outreach events. All of our girls attend as many events that we are involved in as possible and connect with kids of all ages and backgrounds. We work with other robotics teams to host and entertain kids, while teaching them about STEM possibilities they may have never known were possible. Outside of our work with kids, we also attend many events that include parents and adults in their activities, teaching them about STEM today and its possibilities for the future. Every community event we attend or host furthers our goal of FIRST for all, and our hope that we lift others as we climb.

Working with our Local Government-

We at Botmasterz believe that the funding we receive from our government is essential to how we function. As a new and small team, the funding we get from the state and local governments helps our team tremendously. We strive to stay connected with our local and national government. Having met with many city mayors around us, we aim to inform them about the impact of FIRST and the future that education through FIRST represents. We have had many city mayors attend our events, as well as a congressman. We have even hosted a current senator in our build space, and presented our work to him. Whether it is at the local, state, or national government, we attempt to make the FIRST mission known and appreciated.

Build Team

Build Team designs and builds our robot so it's ready to compete at our first event, they build the foundation for the Programming and Electrical team to create the final bot.

Programming Team

Our two-girl programming team designs and tests all of our code and autonomous plans, allowing our robot to move and drive.

Electrical Team

The Electrical Team connects all the components in our robot and ensures that we are able to communicate between the bot and the computer.

Marketing Team

Our Marketing Team handles our finances, finds and plans outreach events, controls the logistics of our meetings, and meets with our sponsors.

Impact Team

Members of the Impact Team write our impact speech, create an impact presentation, make an impact video, and present at our events to judges in hopes of winning the famed Impact Award.

Drive Team

This is the team that's on the field during all of our events. Our drive team consists of two drivers, a drive coach, a human player, and a technician.
