Synchronous = “Live”
Face-to-face instruction that is in-person or through online tools such as Zoom or Google Classroom.
All students, including remote students, will receive daily synchronous instruction in whole class and small group settings.
Asynchronous = Self-guided instruction
Project-based learning, Epic Books, Imagine Reading, or online enrichment and academic programs that are completed independent of a teacher.
All students, including hybrid and remote students, will receive opportunities to engage in independent and student-led learning.
Hale students are expected to participate in daily scheduled instruction, and to demonstrate our Hale expected computer behaviors during live/synchronous sessions, whether they are remote learning or receiving in-person instruction.
In addition to classroom time where both teachers and students are present, structured learning time may include independent work, technology-assisted learning, and student performance assessments.
Students who cannot be reached, who convey they are unable to participate that day, or who demonstrate less than half of the day’s scheduled structured learning time activities or assignments will be marked as absent.
Daily attendance and participation impacts student connectedness to their school community. Students must be truly involved on a daily basis to learn and grow with peers in ways that they can not do on their own if just turning in assignments.
