Recommended For You, by Laura Silverman. Realistic Fiction, Romance
Shoshanna Greenberg loves working at Once Upon, her favorite local bookstore and with her moms fighting at home and a broken car the store has become a safe escape. When her boss announces a holiday bonus to the person who sells the most books, Shoshanna sees an opportunity to at least fix her car, if none of her other problems. The only person standing in her way though is the new hire, Jake Kaplan. Jake is an affront to everything Shoshanna stands for; he doesn’t even read! But somehow his sales start to rival hers. The competition intensifies, and Jake and Shoshanna grow closer and realize they might be more on the same page than either expects….
My favorite part about this book was that the setting was in a bookstore, I love the idea of working in a place that's warm and has millions of books to read it's also a peaceful place to try and find love but the plot was pretty amazing I love how competitive the characters were, it had me rooting for them! Highly recommend if you're into romance and calm backstories! (C.T.)
Verity, by Colleen Hoover. Realistic Fiction, Mystery or Thriller, Romance
It follows struggling writer, Lowen, who’s hired to finish a famous author’s book series — only to uncover her disturbing autobiography hidden among the notes.
I kid you not..this is the most psychological book I've ever read; I read this book last year and to this day I still think about the plot. Favorite book of all time please like READD ITT broo omg, it played with my mind so bad but in a good way. I like how it was full of suspense like whenever I thought I figured the plot out I was taken for a spin and everything changed completely... and don't even get me started on the ending, it was so good I thought about it for weeks. HIGHLYYYY RECOMMENDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!! (C.T.)
The Love Interest, by Helen Comerford. Romance, Superhero Fantasy, Graphic Novel
Seventeen-year-old Jenna Ray has just been saved by the world's newest superhero, Blaze. And, in the eyes of the public, that means one thing: Jenna has been cast as the Love Interest. Jenna has no interest in being a helpless love interest, kidnapped by villains whenever they want Blaze's attention. But an association of villains offers her a chance to find information about her mom, who has been missing for ten years. All she has to do is get close enough to Blaze to spy on him. The more time Jenna spends with Blaze, though, the harder it gets to lie to him. And the more she uncovers about the Hero's Association, the more she realizes that her town is in danger-and she might be the only one who can save it.
This book was plot twist after plot twist bro!! Kid you not I was not prepared for the ending, but I loved it because of Jenna, everyone expected her to start dating the new hero just because he saved her... mind you she doesn't even know him, but homegirl stood her ground and I couldn't have been happier she did that. I also loved how the story was pre-prophesied but only half of it was and slowly everything started clicking to find the rest of the missing pieces. (C.T.)
Omar Rising, by Aisha Saeed. Realistic Fiction
The plot was about a farm boy in a small village who receives a huge opportunity to go to an Ivy League school, everything is fine until he gets sectioned off with other scholarship kids. The principle gives them harsher treatment then the rest of the kids, they're expected to pass their classes with nothing less than an A. They're also expected to clean up after everyone like become lunch ladies, they can't apply to any sports their first years, etc... even with enduring all of that they find out something more shocking that crushes the hopes of all the scholarship kids.
My Favorite part of the book was the ending; I don't want to spoil it so imagine this, a messed-up system that caters to rich elite kids while those who are less fortunate gets discriminated against and aren't seen as equal, but in the end everything is different. Truly it's a good book and I do recommend. It's kind of like what we need to do in this society! (C.T.)
Naruto Shippuden, by Masashi Kishimoto. Graphic Novel, Fantasy

Class Act, by Jerry Craft. Graphic Novel, Realistic Fiction
Its about the difficulties of being in a school with people who dislike you for your skin color. I like how its kinda relatable to everyone. (D. J.)

Two Sides to Every Murder, by Danielle Valentine. Horror/Thriller.
Two Sides to Every Murder is a YA thriller set around Camp Lost Lake, the scene of a triple murder years ago. Olivia D’Angeli was born the night of the murders, and she later learns that the man she thought was her father isn’t biologically related to her. Desperate for answers, she returns to the camp when it reopens. Meanwhile, Reagan Knight, whose mother Lori was publicly accused of being the “Witch of Lost Lake,” also returns. She’s intent on proving her mom’s innocence. As the two girls dig into the camp’s dark past, they uncover hidden family secrets, a missing video camera, and a killer who will do anything to keep the truth buried.
I liked how the book mixed suspense, family drama, and friendship. The mystery kept me guessing the whole time, and I enjoyed seeing how Olivia and Reagan’s stories came together. I also liked how both characters grew stronger and more confident as they faced the truth about their families. The twists made the story exciting, and the ending was surprising but satisfying. (A. Death Note, by Tsugumi Ohba. Graphic Novel, Manga, Mystery/Thriller
The manga is about a high school student who came across a notebook called death note and he uses it and finds out that he can cut people’s life span by writing their name on it while thinking about their face.
I like how light plays his role and how the story unfolds. (F. P.)
One Was Lost, by Nathalie D. Richards. Mystery/Thriller, Realistic Fiction
It was about a school trip to the woods gone horribly wrong. And there's a little bit of romance thrown in there too which is also something I really like about it! It will have you hooked and you won't want to put it down. Also there's a massive plot twist and you won't expect it! Even I forgot it the second time I read it.
I really liked how the author connects details from previous chapters and creates a lot of suspense. I love when a book has me itching to turn to the next page and that's exactly what this one had me feeling. (L. A.)
Spy X Family, by Tatsuya Endo. Graphic Novel, Manga
It introduces the first three characters: a spy, an assassin, and a telepath. Usually you're following the spy's point of view and his mission is to befriend a government official to intercept government secrets.
I think it's really funny and I like the character development. He's been a spy all his life and he always has to focus on himself to make sure his mission gets done. Because he's really independent and his mission involves him having a family. (E. P.)
Attack on Titan, by Hajime Isayama. Graphic Novel, Manga
Basically it's this kid whose mom dies so he dedicates his whole life to killing and slaying titans, the creatures that called his mom. Alongside a group of dedicated people to doing the same task as him as well.
It's very unique and interesting and definitely stands out from other Mangas. The plot and story is different but its actually good its weird but its actually interesting, like you want to find out what happens next. (C. C.)
