Many thanks to our amazing teaching staff for putting together incredible offerings. Students will have the opportunity to watch and discuss films, examine poetry, learn from local historians, explore the lives and experiences of Black entrepreneurs and leaders, and more! Check out the list of offerings below and talk with your student about which they might choose this week.

Arts & Awards Night

Arts and Awards Night is Thursday 5:30pm. All our welcome as we celebrate our artists and scholars! Our student artists will perform and Semester 1 Award winners will be recognized. Teachers have been reaching out to notify famillies of award winners and will continue to do so on Monday and Tuesday.

March Acceleration Academy: Calling all 10th graders

We are hosting an Acceleration Academy during March for 10th graders to prepare for the ELA, Math, and Science MCAS! Students will attend for 4 Saturdays. MCAS season is here, and we want to ensure your student is as prepared as possible! Therefore, we will run 4 Saturday study sessions on March 3rd, March 9th, March 16th, and March 23rd from 9 am to 1 pm at English High. These sessions will be in Math, Science, and English Language Arts.

Contact Ms. Cusack if you are interested in signing up.

Students will get individual support, practice with MCAS exam questions, and learn valuable test-taking skills. At the end of the program, students will be taken on a field trip to celebrate their hard work!

We highly suggest that your student take part in this opportunity.

Saturday School: 18-21 Attendance Policy

Shout out to the students who came in last week to work off tardies. If your student didn't attend and has more than 21 tardies, please encourage them to attend afterschool detention any day of the week.

English has an attendance policy that requires students to have no more than 18 unexcused absences or 21 tardies to be eligible to participate in: graduation, special school events, and athletics.

Students may "buy back" tardies through Afterschool detentions, every day from 2:30-3pm for 1 tardy or through attending Saturday/Vacation School Days for 5 tardies.

If you are not sure about your student's attendance please reach out to our Family Liaison Ms. Prince: 617-635-8979 who will help you to access this information in Aspen.

All EHS students are able to sign out a laptop for the 23-24 School Year. These laptops are for school use and are subject to the BPS Technology Use policies while in use at school or at home.

Students will need to email Ms. Corbett to sign out a laptop.

Any students who take the bus and cannot stay afterschool should let Ms. Corbett know in the email and a laptop will be given to the student before buses by the end of the week.

PIE Enrichments & Updates

PIE Period is an important part of the EHS experience. PIE is a 40 minute block each day where students can meet with the teachers they need extra help or practice with or can attend an elective or enrichment activity.

Each week, students meet with their advisors to plan their week and make a plan to get the support that they need to be successful in all of their courses.

Each week students can choose from a list of enrichments and can choose which teachers they need to meet with.

PIE advisors are your main point of contact with the school--you should hear from them at least once a month.

Ask your student what they have scheduled for PIE this week!
