Creating Communication Opportunities at Home
to Promote AAC and Language Development
Welcome! Thank you for visiting this website, that was created by the Boston Public Schools Assistive Technology Team. This website provides resources and ideas that parents can use to support their child's AAC use at home and in the community.
Explore the table on contents on the left for home activities, AAC system information, core boards, and resources in Spanish.
What is AAC?
AAC= Augmentative & Alternative Communication
Any person that has difficulty communicating may benefit from AAC. AAC can be a printed book, voice output device, or high-tech application. AAC allows an individual to express their wants, needs and ideas, and allows them to more fully participate in their lives.
Please consult with your child's speech language pathologist to discuss communication supports that may benefit your child at home.
