The immigrant experience has seldom been discussed throughout the entirety of history. For decades, immigrants have been shoved to the sidelines and scapegoated for a lot of America's problems. Rather than being recognized for their deep influence on the diaspora of cultures present in America and the strong contributions they've had on American society, they instead are constantly discriminated against for being different. They're known as "criminals" and "invaders" to others, but to the people that truly understand their struggle, they're human beings with the same qualities that anyone born in America has.Â
Politicians with power have decided to use their influence to continue dehumanizing immigrants and expel them from our country completely. Immigrants, without regard to documentation status, are now being deported back home for unbeknownst reasons and without much trial. Institutionally and systemically discriminated against, immigrants find themselves losing hope for a better future and life.
Time and time again, immigrants have never been the narrators of their own story. That changes today.
