iCanstruction Competition
2026 iCanstruction Theme
Freedom's Canvas
All teams are encouraged to design and build a canned-goods structure that reflects this year’s theme. Creations may showcase any element that represents the United States, such as national symbols, landmarks, icons, or patriotic imagery (for example, eagles, the Liberty Bell, the Statue of Liberty, or B-52 aircraft).
Trashion Show
Students are invited to design and model original outfits created primarily from recyclable and repurposed materials. This creative competition challenges participants to think sustainably, showcase their artistic talent, and prove that fashion can be both bold and environmentally friendly.
The Trashion Show and Competition will be held on March 28, 2026 (time TBD).
Shortfilm Contest
The i3 Short Film Contest welcomes elementary, middle, and high school students across Bossier Parish to express their creativity through Live Action, Animation, or Documentary filmmaking. Entries must be original student work from the current school year and adhere to all i3 film guidelines, including time limits (7 minutes for Live Action/Documentary and 4 minutes for Animation), appropriate content, and the use of royalty-free music. Films will be judged based on performance, production quality, and originality, with top awards given out during the i3 Art Expo. Student filmmakers must register their intent to enter and submit their final films by the specified deadlines. Lights, camera, create—your story is ready for the i3 screen!
The Healing Through Illustrations Contest invites middle and high school students to combine science and art in a unique, creative challenge. Students select a biological structure—such as a cell, membrane, organelle, tissue, or body system—and transform it into an imaginative artwork that represents both its appearance and its function.
Entries may be created using traditional art media, digital illustration, or even sculpture. Each submission must include the artwork’s title, the scientific name of the chosen structure, and a short artist statement explaining the scientific connection and creative interpretation.

Judging Rubric
Get ready to strike an arc and let the creativity fly—the i3 Welding Competition is back! This is where Bossier Parish’s most skilled student welders turn raw metal into remarkable art. If you can dream it, shape it, weld it, and make it stand on its own, this competition is calling your name. From bold designs to precise welds, this event celebrates craftsmanship, creativity, and serious metalworking talent.
Calling all future carpenters, builders, and creative makers! The i3 Woodworking Competition challenges Bossier Parish students to turn raw wood into wow-worthy creations. No paint, no stain—just pure craftsmanship. If you can measure it, cut it, join it, and make it stand proudly on its own, this competition is your moment to shine. From clever designs to precision joinery, this event puts creativity and woodworking skill center stage!
Drama lovers, this one’s for you! The i3 Theatre Competition invites students to step into the spotlight and bring their theatrical magic to life. Perform a scene solo or team up with a partner—choose an original monologue, a published piece, or anything your theatrical heart desires. Whether you’re delivering a powerful speech, dramatic moment, or a laugh-out-loud performance, this is your stage to shine. Lights up… It’s showtime!
This competition features two dynamic parts!
The first celebrates performance—singing, reciting, drill routines, and all the star-spangled creativity students can bring to the stage. The second shines a spotlight on powerful voices with a dedicated Oratorical Contest for Middle and High School students. Together, these events showcase artistry, patriotism, and the many ways our students let their voices soar!
Get ready to sing it, speak it, twirl it, or drill it—the Voices of Freedom Contest is your chance to celebrate America in the most creative way possible! Whether you're belting out a patriotic tune, reciting a poem about our nation, performing a JROTC routine, or adding your own star-spangled twist, this is the moment to show off your red, white, and YOU. Bring your costumes, props, enthusiasm, and all the positive patriotic energy you can muster—Voices of Freedom is calling your name!
Speech teachers, debate coaches, and English teachers—this one’s for your rising stars! The Voices of Freedom Oratorical Competition invites Middle and High School students to deliver powerful 3–5 minute patriotic speeches based on inspiring prompts. It’s the perfect stage for confident communicators, persuasive thinkers, and students who love to speak from the heart. Help your students find their voice—and let it shine!
