Purpose
The purpose of this proposal is to secure approval and funding for the installation of a full indoor golf simulator at Airline High School. This facility will provide year-round training opportunities, enhance player development, and elevate the overall competitiveness of the Airline Golf Program.
Rationale & Need
Golf is a precision sport that requires consistent practice, data analysis, and repetition—elements that are often limited by:
Inclement weather
Limited daylight hours
Course availability and costs
Transportation constraints
A golf simulator eliminates these barriers by allowing student-athletes to practice and analyze their performance in a controlled, on-campus environment.
Benefits to Airline High School
1. Player Development
Real-time swing analysis and ball tracking
Immediate feedback on club speed, launch angle, spin rate, and ball flight
Ability to simulate real course conditions
2. Year-Round Access
Practice regardless of weather or daylight
Increased training frequency and consistency
3. Academic Integration
Opportunities to incorporate:
Physics (trajectory, velocity, spin)
Math (data analysis, averages, statistics)
Technology (software usage and interpretation)
4. Program Growth & Recruitment
Enhances reputation of the golf program
Attracts prospective student-athletes
Provides a modern, competitive edge
5. Multi-Use Facility
Can be used for:
Physical Education classes
Fundraisers and community events
Faculty and student engagement activities
Proposed Equipment
A high-quality commercial-grade golf simulator system would include:
Launch monitor (e.g., TrackMan, Foresight Sports)
Impact screen and enclosure
Projector and simulation software
Hitting mat and turf
Computer system for data tracking
