6th grade ELA builds on skills and content learned in prior years. The curriculum is still based on the Guidebooks (AKA Imagine Learning). We will also integrate The Writing Revolution, which helps students improve their writing fundamentals within the content.

While a few assignments will be given on paper and in the ELA workbooks, MOST work will be completed on Google Classroom, OnCourse assessments, and on LearnZillion. Reminder: you can log in to Google Classroom and OnCourse and check grades any time! :)

We will have four units this year:

Components of each unit:

• specific learning goals

• Culminating Writing Task (end of unit essay)

• 1-2 Cold Read Tasks (LEAP-like passages that are new to students with question sets)

• Text-based Assessments (formative and section quizzes)

• frequent, shorter writing tasks
