Bellringer: Students will begin class by working on 4 problems during the First Five minutes from previous and current skills to challenge them and keep the information fresh. We review and discuss these problems daily and then take a quiz over the problems every Friday. Slides will be posted in Google Classroom by Monday for students who may be absent during the week. This will allow them to work on the content at home and study for the quiz on Friday.
Lesson Content: We will be teaching Eureka Math during the lessons. Students will work through problem sets and exit tickets that will be kept in their Zearn binders daily. The exit tickets will be completed after each lesson. Problem sets and exit tickets can also be found in the Google Classroom for those who are absent or miss a lesson.
Supplemental Learning/Practice: I use a variety of supplemental learning to aid students in the mastery of the concepts being taught. We will occasionally practice skills through Blooket, GimKit, and Classcraft. These activities can also be practiced at home.
Khan Academy: Various lessons will be assigned which allow students to practice the current skills they are learning. They will need to score 75% or higher to pass each lesson assigned. They are given multiple at a time to complete these assignments.
Homework: I do not normally assign homework. If I do, I will communicate through the app. The homework will typically be unfinished problem sets or exit tickets. Students will need to complete these to ensure they are ready to move forward with the following day's lesson.
Grades: Classwork grades will consist of completed exit tickets, worksheets, or other in-class assignments. Tests/quizzes will consist of weekly First Five quizzes, mid-module, and end-of-module tests. Study guides will be sent home to prepare for the mid-module and end-of-module tests. I do not send home graded papers. Please access OnCourse to stay up to date on grades. These grades adjust in real-time as new grades are added.
I will provide students with multiple opportunities to earn bonus points. These opportunities will be communicated through the app.
Grading Scale:
93-100% = A
85-92% = B
75-84% = C
67-74% = D
Below 67% = F

Hello Benton Tigers!! My name is Jeffery McClellan, but my students normally call me Mr. Mac. I am thrilled about all the opportunities this school year will hold and am looking forward to the opportunity to be your child's teacher.
I am married to my incredible wife, Taylor, who is also an educator. I am also the father of 3 remarkable boys. Cash is a senior at Benton High, Duncan attends BMS as an 8th grader, and Emmett just turned 1 this summer!
I grew up in Magnolia, AR, and have served children and teenagers for over 20 years as an educator and pastor in New York, New Mexico, Arkansas, and Louisiana. I spent 3 years at Central Park Elementary as a 4th and 5th-grade math teacher. This is my 2nd year at Benton Intermediate, and I'm excited about everything it entails.
I received my bachelor's in Early Childhood Education from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, AR. I also have a master's in Principalship of Education and Divinity in Theology from Southwestern Assembly of God University in Waxahachie, TX. I am currently completing my doctorate as well. (Life-long student.)
