My name is Melanie Watts and I am the  Principal at Apollo Elementary School. This is my 29th year in education. I spent 17 years in the classroom teaching grades 3-8. I became a curriculum coach for 3 years and was the assistant principal for 4 years.  Apollo has a special place in my heart since all of my children attended kindergarten through fifth grade .

Welcome to Apollo!  My name is Ashley Sanchez, and I am the assistant principal.  I have been a part of Bossier Parish schools since I was 5 years old.  I attended the Haughton schools and came back to Bossier Parish to teach once I finished college at NSU.  I was a classroom teacher for 10.5 years before becoming the Instructional Coach at Apollo for 5 years.  I am beyond excited to now serve our community as the assistant principal. 

During your journey at Apollo, my goal is to ensure your child meets his/her highest potential.  I believe your elementary years are very precious.  My motto has always been “a child does not care what you know, until he/she knows you care”.  Even outside of the classroom, I plan to practice this motto.  I want your child to feel loved and cared for and to create memories that last a life time while here.

My name is Bonnie Lovett. I’m excited to be your school counselor at Apollo Elementary. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Louisiana with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Midwestern State University and a Ph.D. In Health Psychology from Walden University. My husband, Chris, and I have been married from 14 years and have two children, Lillian, age 11, a 6th grader at Benton Intermediate, and Ben, age 8, a 2nd grader at Kingston Elementary School. We are a military family and have moved 5 times in 14 years. I love animals, and love to travel, eat local cuisine, run, and do yoga. I look forward to helping all of us navigate through these challenging times. GO ROCKETS!
