The AIM gifted program provides standards-based learning experiences to extend and enhance skills taught in the regular classroom. AIM curriculum offers stimulating challenges through group and individual projects, creative and critical thinking activities, classical and cultural literacy exploration, and interest-driven learning.  It is designed to serve Bossier Parish students identified as gifted through evaluation in accordance with the criteria stated in the Pupil Appraisal Handbook (Bulletin 1706) of the Louisiana State Department of Education.

About Me

I found my dream job the day I walked into the gifted program because I knew that I had found "my" people.

Prior to going back to school to get certified to teach and knock out a Master's from Louisiana Tech, I stayed at home with my kids and taught preschool at our church.  It was during that time that I finally accepted the call to become a full-time teacher in the public school system.

From August 2012 - May 2016, I taught 4th Grade ELA and Social Studies at WT Lewis. I moved to Kingston Elementary to be closer to home and taught the same grade level and subjects for three years. Then, in June 2019, I took a leap of faith and moved up to Benton Middle School to teach 6th and 7th-grade Gifted ELA. I am now in my fourth year of teaching gifted only, and I absolutely love what I do!

I've been married to my husband, Jeremy, for almost 25 years. Our daughter, Emme, is a labor & delivery nurse at St. Mary Oschner, and our son, Jonah, is a junior at LaTech studying political science. We have three Chiweenies: Milo, Marlie, and Rue whom I adore!

I love being outdoors in nature, working in my garden, gourmet cooking, researching, writing curriculum, beach vacations, and spending time with my family and pups!!!!!

My message to Parents...

I am passionate about my job and take it very seriously. I have a very strong work ethic and find it difficult to relate to people who don't (which is something I am working on). I only want the best for your children! I will love them, support them, respect them, and challenge them. When they are sad, I will offer my arms to hold them and my ear to listen to them. When they are angry or frustrated, I will do what I can to calm them and remind them that their feelings are valid. When they are happy, I will laugh with them. When they are curious, I will answer their questions but will also encourage them to seek answers from you. I am a parent above all else and will treat your child the way I would treat my own. I DO believe that it takes a village to raise a child, and I look forward to sharing this village with you!

My message to my students...

I cannot express the excitement I feel getting to be your teacher again!!! For those of you who know me well, you know that what I am about to say is true...I will do everything in my power to instill a passion for learning in you. I will challenge you when you don't want to be. I will demand your best work because I know what you are capable of. I will always be here to listen to you when you are sad, angry, frustrated, or confused and will do what I can to offer objective advice. I will hold you when you are crying and offer you a safe place to share your thoughts. I will expect you to be respectful towards me and your classmates, as we are a family. Lastly, I am not perfect. If I ever hurt your feelings with my words, whether they come from frustration or sarcasm, please let me know.  I will always be one of your biggest cheerleaders!
