Multi-aged preschool

As you know, all our preschool classrooms are multi-aged. This means that we have some children who are 3, 4, and 5 years old. In our Tools of the Mind classrooms, activities are multi-level, capable of meeting the needs of children from 2 ½ to 5. Each child is challenged and supported at his or her own level. Teachers learn how to scaffold children with diverse needs within the same activity. Tools activities grow along with the children, increasing in challenge level and complexity as the year progresses. Learn more about the benefits of a multi-aged classroom below.

Parents and guardians are invited to join their child’s classroom teacher via Google Meet to learn about the curriculum, the daily schedule, and how to support their child at home. volunteers needed

Throughout the year there will be many opportunities for family members to volunteer such as field trips, parties, and guest readers. In order to participate, family members must be board approved. The volunteer process can take some time so I suggest that, if interested, you complete the volunteer form and mandatory training as soon as possible. The form can be found here.

featuring ms. catlett's class

Ms. Catlett’s class has been busy learning in the classroom. Our class has been focusing on the classroom rules, specifically our red and green choices. Students were sorting our good green choices during Small Group Instruction. We discussed the importance of sharing as we read the book, Pete the Kitty and the Groovy Playdate. We reread Llama Llama Mess, Mess, Mess and connected the story to cleaning up our toys in the classroom.

This week our class learned how to use the easel, the water table, and answer the Mystery Question. They also played Color Bingo, Candy Land, and Trouble. I am very impressed with how nicely our class is taking turns and making new friends. Mrs. Strelkoff and I are looking forward to a wonderful school year!
