HARLEM WIZARD VISITS JHS: tickets available for BHS GAME

"DP" David Paul, a member of the Harlem Wizards basketball team, presented for all students in grades 3-8 on Wednesday. "DP" provided a preview of what was to come when the Harlem Wizards visit Boonton High School on the evening of December 5th. He also spoke about the importance of giving one's best and showing respect for others - all while energizing and entertaining the crowd! If you are interested in purchasing tickets for the Wizards game, please visit this site. It seems sure to be a fun-filled event!

Helping hands club seeking donations

Students involved in the Helping Hands Club are working on two service projects to benefit individuals and families in need throughout our local communities. They have established a partnership with a food pantry in Boonton, and could use your help as they seek donations. The pantry is running low on peanut butter, jelly, cereal, powdered drink mixes, canned tuna, spaghetti sauce, and rice. Students chose to embrace this initiative because it gives right back to our own Boonton community. One student came up with the catch phrase "Donate food to change a mood!"

Also, students are collecting donations of warm gloves, hats, scarves, and socks for our "Keep Them Warm From Head to Toe" program. These donations will be going to the Neighborhood House in the next few weeks to assist local individuals in need. Any support you can offer as our Helping Hands Club works for the benefit of others is much appreciated. Donation bins are available in the school.

If you have a 3rd - 5th grader that is interested in taking part in this club, please contact Mrs. Smith.

broadcasting club keeps the jhs community informed

John Hill students are back to work broadcasting the news and events taking place around the school. This edition, linked here, features Halloween activities that happened leading up to the holiday. We hope you enjoy our latest broadcast and we encourage you to follow our crew on YouTube: JHS Broadcasting Club.

3rd graders enjoy the "sweet science" of data analysis

Left with a number of empty candy wrappers following the Halloween Candy Harvest? Our 3rd grade team can put them to use! Students in 3rd grade brought in candy wrappers from their Halloween goodies and used them as a basis to deepen their understanding of graphs. While working in small groups, students used candy wrappers to create frequency tables, tally tables and various types of graphs based on their collected data (and the quantity of their consumed candy!).
