Boonton FIRE DEPARTMENT TEACHES STUDENTS ABOUT FIRE SAFETY

Firefighters from the Boonton Fire Department spoke with students in preschool, grade 3, and grade 4 today as part of Fire Prevention Week. As part of the presentation, students learned important fire safety lessons and also had a chance to tour the fire engine! We are sincerely appreciative of the time and efforts that our firefighters devoted on Friday, as well as each and every day, to keep our community safe!

STUDENTS MAKING STRIDES IN BAND ANd CHORUS PROGRAMS

Both elementary and middle grade students have been making strides as they develop their instrumental and vocal skill sets while also collectively growing as a band and choir. Students are already beginning to prepare for this year's first big musical events - the Grades 3-5 Winter Concert on the evening of December 10th and the Grades 6-8 Concert on the evening of December 12th.

STUDENTS DEVELOP SKILLS THROUGH SEASONAL ACTIVITIES

Students in Mrs. Liberati's classes developed skill sets pertaining to sequencing order of events while participating in a hands-on exploration of one of our favorite fall customs - carving pumpkins! Students enjoyed the opportunity to partake all the gooey phases of this activity while connecting this experience to a variety of language arts tasks.

STUDENT COUNCIL HOSTS STUDENT GATHERING

On Thursday afternoon the Student Council met with all middle school students to discuss the role of the Student Council. All members introduced themselves and explained how they can best serve their classes. It was a nice way to begin their work as council members. To "wrap up" the Meet Your Student Council event, Mrs. Hughen, Ms. Comer, and Mrs. Barrientos helped classes compete in a teacher wrapping relay race. The 8th grade came out on top!

JHS & Lincoln park students partake in joint field day

Member of Boonton High School's Class of 2024, gathered together for a fun-filled field day on Friday. Students from both schools partook in a variety of activities that helped them get to know each other in a fun-filled setting. This is just the first of numerous opportunities for students to unite as a soon-to-be freshman class.

PTA SUPPORTS JHS AND PROMOTES READING

Thanks to the efforts of our PTA and the PTA volunteers, our community was home to its very own book shop this week! Students were thrilled to enjoy the opportunity to add to their book collection and to embrace new adventures through literature. Engaging in a high volume of reading at individualized reading levels has proven benefits for students of all ages and is a primary focus of the reading program our elementary students progress through. Between now and the PTA's Spring Book Fair, this Scholastic Guided Reading Level Chart provides a helpful resource to select books of interest that correspond with student reading levels.
