Influenza vaccine importance
While getting a flu vaccine will not protect against COVID-19, there are many important benefits, such as Flu vaccines have been shown to reduce the risk of flu illness, hospitalization, and death.
Getting a flu vaccine can also save healthcare resources for the care of patients with COVID-19.
New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) mandates that all children six (6) months through fifty-nine (59) months of age attending any school facility receive at least one dose of influenza (flu) vaccine.
Please forward the immunization record to me from your physician or an exemption letter as soon as possible in order to remain in compliance with this mandate.

Wearing a face covering has become a part of our daily lives and interactions, but for many kids it can still be challenging getting used to wearing a mask when leaving the house, especially if your child has special healthcare needs.
Maybe your child is starting to feel tired of wearing the mask or they're becoming forgetful on how to wear their mask properly. Maybe they're acting out or experiencing mask anxiety when they have to wear one for an extended period of time.
Below we've compiled some tips to help your child continue to navigate wearing their masks.
Tips for Helping Kids Feel Comfortable:
Explain the reasons for continuing to wear a face mask and demonstrate the correct way to wear.
Allow your child to choose what type of mask they would like to wear. Do they prefer a traditional face mask or a neck gaiter? What color or fabric do they prefer?
Encourage your child wear their mask during favorite activities, not only when heading out. This will help show that the masks aren't just for unfamiliar situations.
Have your child hold, touch, wear their mask in stages to help them get used to wearing it. Provide praise or other rewards after each success.
Have fun with masks by having your child decorate a mask or printing out a mask outline that they can color.
