National Engagement
National Engagement
In December, I attended ACTE Career Tech Vision and loved engaging in the national FCCLA meetings that were offered. I enjoyed networking with Sandra, Joey, and Abby as well as FCCLA leaders from my state and around the country. It was a valuable networking experience and I learned so much about FCCLA. I am especially excited about the "Grow Your Own" campaign. Being next door to Iowa State University, we have teamed up with them to immerse our students in the world of Family Consumer Sciences Education & Studies. We have several students currently interested in being an FCS teacher (and even more fun- an FCCLA advisor).
Our Survey of FCS students use the Power of One curriculum in class. Unfortunately, with it being a second semester class this year we did not apply for awards but I have requested to have this class moved to first semester next year so students do have time to successfully complete their national program and apply for an award. Even without applying for the award it was a great experience for students and hits on a lot of our district's portrait of a graduate requirements. It's a win-win!
I absolutely loved engaging in Advisor Academy this year through FCCLA. I enjoyed getting to know Savannah and Joey as well as advisors from across the nation. I attended the networking calls and learned so much about how to successfully run a chapter. The experience was invaluable.
(An unfortunate screen grab of me sharing during Advisor Academy)
We are super excited to have a student qualify for nationals this year! I am attending pre-registration webinars, planning webinars (offered by both state and nationals), and excited to attend National Conference my first year as an FCCLA advisor.
