CLASS OVERVIEW
In English, students have the opportunity to learn skills, habits, and strategies that aid them in all aspects of literacy: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. This year we will read a variety of genres, write for a range of purposes and audiences, participate in cordial discussions, practice speaking, learn new vocabulary, and more.
SUPPLIES
Students need four items every day in English in order to be successful. They are:
A pencil
A personal reading book
A composition notebook
A pair of headphones or ear buds (optional, but helpful)
EXPECTATIONS
Lastly, I am committed to my classroom always remaining a safe, calm, and productive place to learn. Therefore, students are expected to:
Treat Ms. Quinn, their peers, and all school staff with respect.
Listen and follow directions quickly and efficiently.
Come to class prepared with the right materials and a ready to learn mindset.
ABSENCES & MAKE UP WORK
If a student misses class, it is their responsibility to check our Google Classroom to see what they missed, and make up any work that we did that day.
I organize my Google Classroom by unit, and label the assignments and materials within each unit based on the day I assigned them in class. (Ex: MON.9/2: Reading Passage)
Therefore, if a student misses class, all they need to do is find the assignments that are labeled with the day they were gone, and make up any work accordingly.
If a student has questions about material they missed, they can leave a comment through Google Classroom, message me through Google Chat, ask me during class, or schedule a time to meet with me.
Let's have a great year!
