About Me
Hi, my name is Julie Makar. I was raised locally. I attended American River College then transferred to UC Davis. Graduated with a degree in Nutritional Biochemistry. Started work as a Pharmacy Technician. Went back to school and fell in love with Geology. Received my teaching credential from Sac State. Gained teaching experience in special education, 6th-10th grade classrooms, and even taught 4th grade Outdoor Ed in Coloma. I currently teach 7/8th grade science and High School food science!
I started teaching at GSJHS in fall of 2022. I absolutely love it here. I currently live in Placerville with my 1 cat and dog. I enjoy cooking, baking, and consider myself a 'foodie'. Other hobbies include painting, fiber crafts, and travelling. My greatest adventure was going to Jordan for a month as a volunteer archeologist.
