WELCOME TO ART CLASS WITH MRS. PHILLIPS : About Me

I have been the visual arts teacher at GSJSHS since 2016. I teach all levels of studio arts, all levels of ceramics and a combination class of 7th-8th graders. I am the visual arts club advisor which we named DADA (Dream Art Do Art). I have been an artist for 42 years showing, competing, selling and creating for my pleasure. Art is my passion and teaching art to students has allowed me the great opportunity to teach them my knowledge, skills, and help them expand their creativity. Students learn from me as I learn from the students! I have expanded the visual arts program, added higher level of learning classes, prepare them for college and careers, and have upgraded and added new equipment and constantly bring in a variety of new materials. This has been so exciting! I feel incredibly fortunate to be teaching at a school that truly supports the arts. 

A little more about myself, in my personal time I enjoy traveling, hiking, camping, kayaking/boating, sports, music concerts, cooking and fun events. The list never ends! My family is my everything. I have been happily married for 36 years, we have 2 wonderful girls who are married to amazing men and through them we have four beautiful, fun grandchildren. I am a huge animal and nature lover so living in the mountains has been solitude for me.
