The game show where everyone wins a quality education!

The goal of this puzzle is to figure out which letter to paste OVER the group A elements so you can reveal the secret message.  Any teams that are able to successfully determine the message by applying logic and effort (not stealing answers from others) will have a chance to win at trashketball.  Any team that is then able to successfully make the trashketball through the basket and into the trash can will get to spin the Wheel of Winners for a prize.

Be sure to pick up all three papers (the letters, the Group A elements and the list of clues.  You will also need glue and scissors!  Ready?  Let's get started!

Clue Set #1 - Watch the video and write down the Alkali metals from least to most reactive.

Clue Set #2 - Watch the video and write down the halogens mentioned in the order they are mentioned .

Clue Set #3 - Watch the video and write down the colored toxins mentioned in the video.

Clue Set #4 - View the presentation and write the elements that match each story title.

Clue Set #5 - Watch the video, read the information at the link and look at the image of the four different energized atoms.  Each atom gives off a certain color or wavelength and you will match this color to the correct wavelength.

 Letter      Element Clue

D          This element makes up almost all of your human body.

T          There is a whole branch of chemistry called Organic Chemistry devoted to studying the compounds of this element.

S           This element is a real weirdo and doesn’t really fit in since it is neither a metal or a nonmetal.

I            This nonmetal is the MOST reactive halogen.

S            This element was discovered in Transylvania.

U;          This metal is what gives your body strength and structure.

T           This metal is a solid at room temperature but melts in your hand.

E                This group 15 element was used as eyeliner in ancient Egypt for it’s bluish, shiny hue.

P                This dull grey metal is the most abundant element in the Earth’s crust and can be easily made into thin sheets of foil and is commonly used to make                         soda cans.

N               This yellow nonmetal is a main ingredient in sulfa drugs, which were the first antibiotics.  As a side note, the first sulfa drug was actually an industrial                    dye called Prontosil.

M               This metal is used as a soft solder and is also mentioned in the Bible.  Ezekiel 22:20 

O                This semiconductor influenced the name of an area in San Francisco and is used in electronics.

N/A           This metal is the only one that is a liquid at room temperature.

F               This transition metal has 81 protons.

S               It is the halogen with 5 electron orbitals
