Hey! I'm Kelli, a nutritionist, personal trainer, and wellness nerd based in Los Angeles, CA and working with clients across the US since 2017.
I LOVE wellness, but I've had a complicated relationship with it. My personal story has defined my professional mission and how I work with clients.
My History
I grew up very active in sports. Most notably, volleyball (middle blocker), track & field (400m, 800m, high jump, triple jump), and dance (modern and jazz). I've lately been into long-distance running (10ks and half-marathons).
I also grew up in a very creative and artistic family. Both of my parents are musicians and my mom was a working musical theater actress throughout my childhood. Not-so-surprisingly, I went to college for music and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a singer-songwriter and actress.
My Struggles
From both the athletic and artistic side, I've lived so much of my life as a performer. The associated visibility created a lot of pressure and I developed a complicated relationship with my body, silently struggling with disordered eating, body dysmorphia, and severe stress around food and exercise for years.
I ended up so obsessed with wellness. I was dieting all the time and "eating clean" to make up for all the severe binge episodes I would regularly have. I was always on the latest trends to "biohack" my way to better gut health, hormones, and longevity, yet I felt like absolute crap all the time.
I was in such a rut physically, that I couldn't keep up with the pursuit of my artistic career. All of the chaos I had created around my wellness obsession left me so frustrated, I decided to go back to school to get my Master's degree in nutrition. I figured that would be a sure way to finally figure out all the wellness secrets.
The Work
I have since pursued education down many valuable avenues including clinical nutrition, functional medicine, strength and conditioning, eating disorder recovery, sports and performance nutrition, and behavior change. I've worked with brilliant mentors and inspirational colleagues all while learning and rebuilding my own relationship with food, health, and my body from a place of self-care and fueling, rather than shame and restriction.
Boy, did I not realize how much of a soul-healing journey I was in for.
My Realizations
I've come to realize that my own healing required many different approaches and angles, and I now specialize in helping others connect the dots and finally feel like they have a handle on their own wellness.
If there's anyone who understands the stress, chaos, and shame around food, exercise, and body image, it's me. I wish it didn't take me tens of thousands of dollars in student loans (no, seriously....) to learn that you can be healthy, fit, and at peace with food without losing your damn mind. It takes strategy, it takes guidance, and often it takes some serious unlearning, but it's possible.
It's my hope that you don't resonate with my story, but I know many people do. I'm hopeful that with the right support, you also can find peace.
