SCIENCE COMMUNICATION IN SPANISH
This experiential learning project is an interdisciplinary and diverse team of faculty, graduate and undergraduate students whose main goal is science communication in Spanish. Science Communication is the practice of communicating scientific research to non-expert audiences.
This initiative started in the summer of 2020 as a collaboration with the Department of Biological Sciences at Boise State University and has evolved into a Vertically Integrated Project launched in Spring 2023.
Project SCIENTIA has been working to make science more inclusive and accessible through the creation of STEM dissemination materials tailored to Spanish-speaking audiences. We create communication and educational materials that present research in a less-technical and more-engaging format through videos, podcasts, educational materials and blog posts.
In 2022, our lab has expanded its reach and collaborations to include The Nature Conservancy in Idaho and a team of multidisciplinary researchers who investigate the effects of pesticide exposure on Latinx farmworkers.
