Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I am an educator and this sounds like an exciting program. How can I get involved with the Onramp Program?

A: To participate in the program, your school must meet certain criteria. If you are interested in having the Onramp Program’s Mobile Lab visit your classroom or school, please fill out this interest survey. If you are interested in having Onramp work with you and your team to develop a school-wide or grade level project, please email us at onrampprogram@boisestate.edu.

Q: I am a school or library administrator with a great team. How can I get my team involved with the Onramp Program?

A: The Onramp Program supports underserved and underrepresented students. Programs that reach this demographic or schools where at least 60 percent of students receive free or reduced lunch are eligible. If your organization can demonstrate that it meets that criteria, you can apply to have your team participate in the program.

Q: How much time does it take? If I’m selected, what am I really committing to?

A: The Onramp Program is moving to a modular model for professional development. We offer three different summer training modules that can be taken à la carte or all together. Each module (Creativity, Coding, and Challenge Based Learning) requires a two-day training followed by a project proposal and facilitation. Upon successful completion of the module, qualifying educators are eligible to receive two professional development credits payed for by the Onramp Program.

Q: What do educators earn by participating in the program (besides a fantastic opportunity to learn from industry experts alongside awesome educators)?

A: Qualifying educators who successfully complete the program can earn two professional development credits per module, are eligible for a stipend, and will have the opportunity to use one of Onramp's device labs (iPads and/or Macbooks) to use in the classroom during their project. In addition, Onramp educators can earn Apple Teacher badges and are invited to participate in Apple Professional Learning opportunities.
