Title: Deploying FEMA’s Risk Mapping Assessment and Planning (Risk MAP) Program in Idaho: The Village Behind Identifying and Mitigating Natural Hazard Risk
Abstract: Since the authorization of the National Flood Insurance Act of 1968, FEMA has been tasked in mapping flood risk across the United States. The way in which FEMA identifies, communicates, and addresses risk has changed considerably over the last twenty years. Advances in technology, new directives, and a network of partners provide the Agency opportunities to not just map the risk, but to deliver actionable information to assist communities in mitigating their natural hazard risk.
