Rules
The Boise School District XBooks Extreme Reading Challenge is designed to encourage/push you to read a wider variety of things this year. Because it is a personal challenge, not a contest, most of it is based on the honor system. However, you will get the most benefit from this challenge, and will truly earn your prize(s), if you follow the intended rules and guidelines:
Participants include Boise School District students who are in grades 7-12 as of December 2024, as well as district staff.
There are 52 categories. To complete this challenge, you need to pick 50 categories and read one book for each of them.
Document each book you read on its category page in your XBooks Notebook. Notebooks can be physical or digital. Documenting must include the title, the author, a rating out of 5 stars, and a description/response. The description/response can be anything, including a picture, favorite quote, note to the author, etc..
You can only count a book for one category, even if it could fit in multiple categories. Pick the best fit!
Books must be at least 95 pages long unless noted by an asterisk (*). Those books with an asterisk may be shorter than 95 pages if you wish.
You should strive to read books appropriate to your age and reading level.
You should choose books that you have not previously read.
Unabridged audiobooks count for any category!
Graphic novels can be used in other categories so long as they still fit the criteria for that category.
Unless otherwise stated, a book can be fiction or nonfiction.
Books must be finished between January 1, 2024 and December 17, 2024 to count.
You must turn in your XBooks Notebook to your school librarian by the end of the school day on December 17, 2024 to be eligible for the grand prize.
