Halloween is around the corner!
By Aly Danley
It feels like school has just started, but we are almost in the season of spooky decorations, pumpkin carving, and crunchy leaves. Fall is here, and that means Halloween is too! What can we expect to see here at Les Bois this Halloween? Let’s take a look at what the spooky season brings.
Halloween is on a Saturday this year too, it’s Saturween! That means you can stay up later to collect as much candy as you can. Speaking of trick-or-treating, I interviewed lots of people, and most of them said that you should stop trick-or-treating when you want to. There isn’t an age to stop as long as you don’t steal all the candy. They also said that Halloween candy and costumes are way too expensive, so don’t feel bad if you can't afford a fully decorated costume or full size candy bars. What are people going to be for Halloween at Les Bois? The people I interviewed said they are going to be a black fox, Sergeant Tamora Jean Calhoun from Wreck-It-Ralph, an animal like a cat or dragon, James Bond, Olivia Rodrigo, Shakira, That Mob from YouTube, The Grabber from the Black Thumb, Sue Sylvester from Glee, a shark police officer with a bubble gun, hat, and badge, and many more. I am going to be a ladybug! How can you celebrate if you can’t spend a lot of money? There are lots of creative things you can do for Halloween, even on a budget. Some people decorate pumpkins, others make pumpkin pie or Halloween cookies. There are lots of inexpensive things you can do. You can buy a pumpkin and get three traditions out of it. You can scoop out the seeds and bake them to make homemade pumpkin seeds, you can scoop some of the inside of the pumpkin and make a mini pumpkin pie, and obviously, you can carve a pumpkin for an inexpensive decoration. And if you have pets, you can give them a costume. But make sure it is the right size because a costume that is too small can feel tight and even hurt them, but one that is too big will cause them to trip and fall. Halloween traditions are one of the biggest parts of Halloween. This is the time to connect with friends, family, and the scary spirit. That is why Halloween can be fun for everyone!

Frightening fun at the Farmstead!

You love it, you know it, and if you don’t, then you are missing out on it; it’s the farmstead! The place for family fun, foody friends, and people who like pig races! At the Farmstead, you can have some thrills by walking through Rusty the VBB (Very Big Beast) but watch out for his heart! Are you a little grossed out by walking through a giant dragon? Don’t worry, you can go pet some animals at the petting zoo, but you might think that that is not enough, so you can go to the pig races! After watching the pigs run around you might get a little hungry, ( I don't blame you) so you will definitely want to go to the 15 Mile Kitchen if you want a burger or some finger steaks but if you want some Italian food head over to Pitchfork Pizza. Man, pizza was good but now you want dessert. You could get donuts, or you could go to the candy cannon! Candy is amazing except now you’ve eaten too much so you need to use some energy, good thing there are corn poppers, an obstacle course, and much more! You're going to be fine. Now you’re tired, and ready to go, so it’s parking lot time, but “Oh shoot!” you forgot to go to the potato sack slides! Good thing it’s open til Halloween*. Besides, you’re really craving that pizza again.
*The Lowe Family Farmstead is open Sep. 12 - Oct. 31, M-Th 4pm - 9pm, Fri-Sat 10am - 9pm. Closed on Sundays. Located at
2500 South Eagle Rd.
Kuna, ID 83634
Tickets range from $12 to $25

Everyone knows what trick or treating is. But do you know what trunk or treating is? It's this fun thing where you dress up and walk around to different peoples' trunks and get candy!
In Meridian ID at City Hall Plaza, 33 E Broadway
Ave, you can join a fun event that is free! A donation of $1 per child is encouraged for the Meridian Food Bank backpack program.
Kids can dance, laugh and let loose while families soak up the festive vibes! If you want to host a trunk applications can be submitted directly through the City of Meridian Trunk Application page. It is completely free to register and host a trunk. You park in a circle or rows and kids walk from car to car looking at the decorations and trunk-or-treating for candy. It is usually scheduled on weekends or week days heading up to Halloween. If you want to host a slot you must provide enough pre packaged candy or approved treats for approximately 4000 children. Over 90 local businesses or community groups and organizations participate by decorating vehicles. If you want to secure a spot for your business or group you must fill out the online application by October 16. Vehicles can begin setup at 5:00 PM and must be fully ready by 6:00 PM. If you are interested in going dress up with friends and have fun!
