Cheerleader Expectations
Cheerleading is a team sport! Each and every cheerleader is important to their team. Being a part of a team is a privilege for each student. An important purpose of LBJH cheerleaders is to promote and uphold school spirit, unity and pride, to represent LBJH Blazers to the highest degree. Attitude is everything. Sportsmanship is expected both on and off the court. You are school leaders! GO BLAZERS!
Academic Expectations
A cheerleader is a STUDENT FIRST. You are responsible for bi-monthly grade checks. You will be benched from cheering if at any time there are more than 3C's, any D’s, F’s, or if you fail to turn in a grade check until your grades meet the standard again.
Attendance Expectations
Attendance is mandatory at all scheduled practices, games, fundraisers, and other functions. Any absences must be excused by a PARENT via the form on the cheer website AHEAD OF TIME. You are expected to be on time, every time unless it's an emergency.
Cheerleaders need to arrange transportation home from games and events. Coaches wait for a maximum of 15 minutes with the cheerleaders. If there’s another after school activity going on your student may stay. If not, the administration will be notified after 15 minutes that a cheerleader is still waiting. Please be courteous with everyone's time.
Should you choose to quit the team or are removed at any point, you are not eligible to try out for the following year.
You are allowed to participate in 1 other sport during the cheer season as long as you are able to learn the materials on your own so you can be prepared when you return to cheer. Please be aware, if you are elected and accept a position as a cheer captain, this option is not available to you. You are expected to be available to help run the team all year long.
Appearance Expectations
Cheerleaders must have their entire uniform with them in order to perform on the floor. You are expected to avoid any extreme appearances with makeup and hair so as to look uniform with the rest of the team.
Cheerleaders will abide by the Idaho High School Activities Association standards. Cheerleaders should not have long nails or be wearing any jewelry that has the potential to cause harm to others - this means earrings, bracelets, headbands, hair clips, artificial nails, etc. These are to be removed prior to each event.
Communication Expectations
First and foremost you are expected to stay in communication with your coaches any time something arises. Parents and cheerleaders agree to use the designated application (Band App) to stay up to date with events, games, snacks, calendars, parties, routines, etc., plus any other instructional items.
You are also welcome to use email as well: lesboischeer@gmail.com, but please know this isn't the first line of communication typically. You will be able to reach coaches quickly in the Band app chats.
Behavior Expectations
You are expected to treat coaches, team members, fellow students and administration, as well as any opposing team members with respect at all times.
Phone use is limited to before, after, or on a designated break during cheer.
In the event of any MAJOR DISCIPLINARY VIOLATIONS, consequences are up to the discretion of administration and coaches according to Boise School District Policy #3272.
