The All City Honor Orchestra consists of two skill-leveled groups. All-City Chamber is a high performing level orchestra with primarily 7th-9th grade string players. All-City Concert offers an advanced orchestra experience, but still provides players the opportunity to develop their playing skills using accessible repertoire and rehearsal skills. All-City Concert is open to 4th-7th grade students. String players that do not fit the suggested grade levels are still encouraged to audition and will be placed in the orchestra that fits their playing abilities.
All City Honor Orchestra is designed for string players in 4th-9th grade with above-average interest and acquired skill wanting the opportunity to do more advanced work, affording them the opportunity of public performance and recognition as members of a select organization.
Students must be members of their school orchestra program if it is offered in their school. Exceptions are made for students who are too young to participate in their school program, are homeschooled, or do not have orchestra in their current school.
Students who are recommended for consideration to the Honor Orchestra by school orchestra teachers and private instructors can submit an audition video or audition in-person on/by October 27th, at South Junior High School. Auditions are held in 15 minute intervals.
Applications for ACHO can be filled out HERE
All City Chamber and Concert orchestras both meet Monday afternoons from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. for rehearsals at South Junior High School.
By auditioning it is assumed that a student is making a commitment to attend all scheduled rehearsals and performances (even during soccer, track, and wrestling season), be prepared for rehearsals and behave like “Honor Orchestra” members.
