Course Overview
The emphasis for this course is personal physical fitness where you will learn about components that affect your personal health. Our curriculum outlines the main concepts to be: benefits/barriers to fitness, components of fitness, F.I.T.T. Formula, principles of training, and other relevant activities. There will be other activities that will be touched on, such as team and individual sports.
Three to four days per week will be dedicated to personal fitness. The goal of these days is to engage in a difficult personal workout aimed at improving your overall health and cardiovascular fitness and improving your fitness testing scores. These days will consist of circuit/station workouts, jogging, speed walking, or other intense activities. Students are expected to be working as hard as physically possible. Sweating is not a bad thing, but standing around, talking to your friends when you should be participating and exercising is! Fitness is the main component of this course, fitness testing will be conducted several times throughout the semester.
Tests, handouts, quizzes, and worksheets are a large requirement of this course and should be taken seriously. We will have a classroom day every week. You need to keep all written work to use during final exam time.
