TERM 1 / WEEK 4 NOTICES
Senior Boys Volleyball are training Tuesday and Thursday after school. The Northland Championships are being held on Tuesday 10 March. Senior Girls Volleyball will train Monday and Wednesday after school this week and their Northland Championships are on Thursday 12 March. Leading up to that, Bay of Islands Sr Girls are competing in three consecutive Saturday Tournaments in Kamo against Kamo HS, Whangarei Girls HS and the Northland Kauri Senior Women. The 1st of the Saturday Tournaments (last weekend) saw Bay College open with a 22 - 25, 25 - 22 and 15 - 11 win against Kamo HS. We were completely out of our depth against the Northland Kauri Sr Womens team dropping all 3 sets 14 - 25, 8 - 25 and 18 - 25. Both Sr Competitive Teams are building to compete in the NZSS Satellite Championships in Auckland in March.
Specialized Athletics trainings are being held at the following times on the back field: Wednesday lunch - Throwing Events. Friday lunch - Jump Event & Track training. Thursday after school is Specific Event training. The Northland Track & Field Championships are in Whangarei on Friday 6 March. We are anticipating a group to compete at the North Island Championships in Papakura during NZSS Tournament Week at the end of March.
Ki-o-Rahi has had a great turnout of players in the first two weeks and we're in the process of finalising selections for the Manarahi Tournament in Lower Hutt from 30 March to 1 April. Trainings this week are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at lunch.
Waka Ama has a Girls Team in training. The team has their Northland Championships on Thursday 5 March and the team will be competing in the NZSS Championships in Rotorua during Secondary School Tournament Week late in March.
Rugby / 7's - Thank you to the boys and girls wishing to play this year and registering their interest with Matua Tuari. Unfortunately the NRU has moved the event to October. 1st XV Pre-Season training will get underway with Boys on Wednesday after school from 3:30 - 4:30 and Girls on Thursdays after school, 3:30 - 4:30.
Surf School: The 1st Surf School will be held this upcoming weekend at Sandy Bay on the Tutukaka Coast on Sunday 1st March and we've got a full group of 30 surfers. It will be a great day and if we get the interest, we'll look to put another Surf School on before the end of the term.
Boys & Girls Year 9 & 10 Kiwi Tag: The girls played their North Zone tournament at the Kerikeri Sports Complex winning four of their five games which was a fantastic result. Fortunately many of our Kiwi Tag girls already play League and they had an absolute blast. Based on their excellent performance, the team was asked to play in the Southern Zone tournament this week but we couldn't quite make that work with the short notice.
Jr Boys Futsal (Indoor Soccer): We've got a team and the first training will be Tuesday of this week with letters going out next week for the upcoming tournament.
Sr Mixed Touch: Training this week is Monday lunch on the far end of the rugby field. The competition is coming up fast on Friday 13 March
