These are some of the programs that are run in or from the Learning Support Centre. These range from supporting students social and emotional skills to literacy and numeracy skills and are run on a needs basis at different times. Sometimes programs will require time outside of the usual timetabled classes for students but the goal of the Learning Support Centre team is inclusion where possible within the school and community.
A specialized literacy group is run in the Learning Support Centre weekly that uses a range of tools and strategies to further support and enhance students literacy and curriculum learning at school.
The Learning Support Centre develops individualised learning opportunities and community links to help the students gain and strenghten a wide variety of skills. For example volunteer work experience and financial literacy.
Many of the students who are involved with Learning Support Centre have their own logins for useful mathematics sites like Study Ladder, E-Ako where they are supported in small groups or one to one. These programs are designed to fit the knowledge of the learner at the right stages and to support their knowledge building across the core Mathematics curriculum. Like literacy groups, mathematic small groups are also run where there is the need.
Lego building has many benefits to student development such as eye hand coordination improvement, problem solving skills, persistence and patience. Brick club was created to encourage students to participate within a social and creative activity with other peers.
