What is Mental Wellbeing?
Society often thinks of health as something biological and physical: the condition of our bodies, how healthy we eat, the physical exercise we do. However, a key component of health is missing from this - Mental Wellbeing. Mental wellbeing is an important part of our overall health.
"Mental wellbeing is when every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to their community" - World Health Organisation
Mental wellbeing does not mean being happy all the time and it does not mean you won't experience negative emotions, such as grief, loss, or failure, which are a part of normal life. We all face difficult and challenging situations that cause us to feel angry, sad, overwhelmed and everything in-between. Instead, it's about being able to understand and manage those feelings so that generally you're able to:
Feel confident in yourself
Build and maintain positive relationships
Have a sense of purpose
Live and work productively
Cope with the normal stresses of day-to-day life
At Bohunt we want you to thrive in all aspects of your life and that is what we are here to support!

What are the Five Ways to Wellbeing?
Wellbeing is when you feel good and enjoy your day-to-day life.
The things we do and the way that we think affects our wellbeing. Like physical health, we can all benefit from looking after our mental health. Research has identified five ways that can help to build your resilience and boost wellbeing. Each of these actions makes a positive difference to how we feel, being aware of and combining these will make a difference.
Connect - Catch up with your friends, family and neighbours. Have a conversation, pass the time of day, make time for that chat. Check in on one another, if visits are not possible, WhatsApp, text, or face time.
Be Active - Find a physical activity that you enjoy, go for a walk, try running, cycling, gardening. Ensure you are eating well, drinking water and getting the rest you need to be healthy.
Take Notice - Be observant of yourself, others and your environment. Give compliments, support one another, be kind and look for someone beautiful in your day. Savour the moment.
Keep Learning - Try something new and stay interested. Whether it's making a new recipe, fixing the bike or even signing up for a course. Be aware of opportunities to progress your learning at school.
Give - Random acts of kindness, encouragement, love and generosity. Invest in yourself, family and loved ones. Smile, do something nice for a friend or neighbour, make some time for others.
