Listed below are the steps for any current 8th grade student (Rising Freshmen) to follow in order to fully schedule for Morgantown High School.
Step 1: Scheduling Presentations
During the month of February, Morgantown High School Counselors will present to South and Suncrest Middle school students throughout their school day. Each middle school will have different timelines to complete the scheduling paperwork. Please see your specific school counselor for additional information on scheduling timelines. Non-Feeder Schools will be communicated with once timelines have been set for their specific schools.

Step 2: Personalized Education Plans
Students will complete their Personal Education Plan (PEP) with their Middle School counselors. Students will take this paper PEP form home for parents/guardians to fill out and return to school.
Step 3: Exploring classes for your 9th grade year
All learners: Look at the courses that you may want to take in the course request book. Start making a plan.

Possible Courses for 10th Grade Year (courses will change from year to year)
All 8th grade students must select 7 courses main courses: English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, Fine Arts Elective, and Freshmen Seminar (formerly IR). Students will then select another elective on the third page of the scheduling form. Finally students must also select 3 additional elective courses to complete their scheduling in class the original courses are full on the fourth page.
Step 4: Completing your Course Request Form
All students must fill out a course request form to schedule for the 2024-25 school year to be properly scheduled. As a reminder all 8th grade students must select 8 classes to take along with alternate classes depending on their first choice.
All students must complete a paper version of the course request form. All students will receive a paper copy of the course request form during the MHS presentations at their schools. The AP and Honors agreement form has been embedded in the form this year. Additionally some of these courses may require summer work. See the Resource section below for additional information.

Step 5: Scheduling of High School Courses
Morgantown High School scheduling teams will be at our feeder middle schools on the following dates:
Suncrest Middle School: February 10, 2025
South Middle School: February 11, 2025
Step 6: Optional Course Waivers
All students will be scheduled for courses based on Middle School data, iReady data, along with teacher, student, and parent feedback. Based on iReady benchmark data in the Spring 2025, parents may request a change to the student's course request form as long as the iReady data shows that the student is at or beyond grade level.
Step 7: Schedules Released
Student schedules will be released prior to the start of upcoming school year. Morgantown High School will alert families of how students can confirm their schedules via school messenger, social media, and our school website.
Additional Resources
Lockers: Most students choose not to have a locker on Morgantown High School's campus for a variety of reasons. All students may carry backpacks on campus and the amount of time to transition between classes is short. If your student wants to request a locker for the upcoming school year, they must complete the following form by June 1st Click here for the form.
Summer Assignments: Summer Assignments. Some AP and Honors classes have summer assignments. It is up to the student to confirm which courses have summer assignments and the deadlines to complete. Summer Assignments can be found under the Student Tab of the Morgantown High School website. All Summer Assignments will be posted by June 1st.
