PSAT 8/9 Information
Morgantown High School, in coordination with Monongalia County Schools, will be offering 9th grade students the opportunity to take the PSAT 8/9 free of charge on Wednesday, October 12th. Here are the details.
What is the PSAT 8/9? The PSAT 8/9 is a test that eighth and ninth graders take during the regular school day. It’s the first test in the SAT Suite of Assessments, which also includes the PSAT 10, PSAT/NMSQT, and the SAT. All the tests in the suite measure the knowledge and skills your child is learning in school—the same knowledge and skills they’ll need to succeed in college.
The PSAT 8/9 is mandated for all students to take that are currently 9th graders.
Students do not need to register to take the exam as Monongalia County Schools is providing this opportunity for our students. School bus transportation will be provided as usual for any students taking the exam during the school day.
All students will receive an email to their BOE or K12 accounts with testing room locations on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.
All students are asked to bring with them an approved calculator (Click here for details) however MHS will have a limited supply of extra calculators in each testing room.
Students are asked to bring with them 2 #2 wooden pencils. MHS will have a limited supply of extra pencils in each testing room.

All students must be in their testing room location no later than 7:30 am on October 12th. Late arriving testers will not be admitted.
If your student has accommodations for the exam, they will be notified ahead of time.
The standard timing for the PSAT 8/9 is 2 hours and 35 minutes with breaks along with some additional time for administration. For more information on the exam, please click here.
Students are asked to leave all electronic devices home during this school day. All electronic devices that are brought on campus will be checked in with a faculty member.
Students may elect to bring their own lunch or eat free in our cafeteria. Food and drink are not permitted in the testing room unless stored in a backpack or lunch bag.
PSAT-10 and PSAT-NMSQT Information

What is the PSAT-NMSQT? The PSAT/NMSQT is a standardized test that all 10th grade students are mandating to take and 11th grade students have the option to take. Like the SAT, it measures the knowledge and skills in reading, writing, and math students learn in the classroom—the same knowledge and skills your child needs to succeed in college and career.
