Dear friends, arborists, horticulturalists, and landscapers,
As a former tree worker and peer of yours here in Victoria BC, I experienced many challenges we all share. In particular, ergonomic challenges. I experienced these challenges through the lens of an arborist; through hauling uncut brush; lost and acquired many orphan roadside brute cans; missed Hartland's closing hours working late; getting stuck behind traffic that ought not to be driving in the first place; and countless times starting the next working day with an annoying full load of waste in the truck bed.
But of all of those frustrations, it wasn't the garbage cans, bad traffic or early morning dump runs that were my biggest challenge, it was the condition of my body as a result of working using poor ergonomics.
work should be fun. a body should be happy. Devising better Ergonomics was an ongoing issue which, here, i have sought to resolve. Starting this winter 2023, I'll get to put my certainty to practice for you when rental of our wood chippers will begin.
Bring your equipment to the work, not your work to the equipment.
I see you working out there; the guy-with-truck; The landscaper; the arborist; and the horticulturalist. You and your stewardship is very important. You keep us connected to the land. You - more intimately than Victoria society can know, fully experience our seasons.
It is my hope that you will continue this work because You are the last stewards of nature here within urban Victoria.
Kindly,
Bob
