This course strengthens students’ grammatical foundation and communicative competence to support more sustained interaction in Spanish. Using a thematic approach, students develop greater accuracy and confidence in expressing ideas across a variety of contexts. Instruction emphasizes functional language use, cultural understanding, and preparation for more advanced Spanish coursework. The ACTFL Proficiency for this course is Novice High-Intermediate Low.Prerequisites:

This course reviews and extends concepts learned in previous Spanish courses and applies them in new communicative contexts. Students engage consistently in interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational communication through a thematic framework. Cultural study emphasizes Spain and Spanish-speaking countries of the Americas. Instruction is conducted entirely in Spanish. The ACTFL Proficiency for this course is Intermediate Mid-Intermediate High.Prerequisites:

This advanced course provides a comprehensive review and expansion of previously studied language functions and grammatical structures. Students refine their ability to narrate, describe, and summarize across time frames in all three modes of communication. Instruction includes reading and discussion of fiction and nonfiction texts from a variety of media. The course is conducted entirely in Spanish. The ACTFL Proficiency for this course is Intermediate High-Advanced Low.Special Notes:
This course may be eligible for Dual Enrollment credit through Saint Thomas University provided students meet eligibility requirements.
