This U.S. History course traces the political, economic and social development of the United States from the Civil War Period to the present day. Student activities will include research and analysis of historical events, thematic individual and group projects, and contemporary issues. This course is designed to reflect FCCSS guidelines and satisfy graduation requirements for the State of Florida.Prerequisites:
Successful completion of AP European History or AP Human Geography85 or higher in Honors European History or90 or higher in at least TWO honors Social Studies semester courses with teacher recommendation or93 or higher in College Preparatory World History with teacher recommendation.Course Description:
The history of the United States is developed through a thematic approach where students use a variety of activities, documents and supplemental readings to learn about historical events and to understand their significance. The course traces the social, political, economic and military development of the United States from Reconstruction to the present day and their impact on the world. This course is designed to reflect FCCSS guidelines and to satisfy graduation requirements for the State of Florida.Prerequisites:

This course is designed to provide students with the analytical skills and factual knowledge necessary in U.S. History and to prepare them for intermediate and advanced college courses. Students will learn to assess historical materials and to weigh the evidence and interpretations presented in historical scholarship. Students should develop the skills necessary to draw conclusions on the basis of an informed judgment and to present reasons and evidence clearly and persuasively in essay format. This course is approved by the College Board and satisfies the graduation requirements of the State of Florida.Special Notes:
Students enrolled in this course are required to complete a Summer Assignment. Students in this course are required to take the Advanced Placement Exam; AP Exam fees will be processed through FACTS account.
