This course provides students with a comprehensive and analytical perspective on the origin and practice of American government. It delves into the principles of the U.S. Constitution and what they have meant to the Founders, Framers, and Americans over the past two centuries. The curriculum also provides an in-depth study of the powers and limits of the three branches of government and how each affects everyone living in the U.S. The ultimate objective of this course is to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to function as “enlightened and effective” citizens in our democratic society. This course is designed to reflect FCCSS guidelines and satisfy graduation requirements for the State of Florida.Prerequisites:

The Honors Government program offers a more detailed study of government that encompasses the principles, structure, functions and processes of our constitutional government as well as the rights and responsibilities of citizens in a democracy. This course is designed to reflect FCCSS guidelines and satisfy graduation requirements for the State of Florida.Prerequisites:

The Advanced Placement Government and Politics course provides intensive study of American democracy over a two semester period. The main objectives of this course pertain to issues related to the powers and interactions of the three branches of government within the framework of our constitutional democracy. Although the immediate purpose of this course is to prepare students for the AP exam in May, the ultimate objective is to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to function as enlightened and effective citizens in our democratic society. This course is approved by the College Board and satisfies the graduation requirements of the State of Florida.Special Notes:
Students in this course are required to take the Advanced Placement Exam; AP Exam fees will be processed through FACTS account.
